Pacquiao vs Mayweather in the Works

Pacquiao vs Mayweather
Eight-division boxing champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has confirmed that a megafight between him and unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr. is currently under negotiations.
“Ongoing ang negotiation sa fight namin ni Mayweather, hindi pa final (Negotiations are ongoing for my fight with Mayweather, but nothing is final),” Pacquiao said after his homecoming in General Santos City today.

Pacquiao said Mayweather was probably more open to fighting him after the latter saw his controversial third fight against Marquez where the Filipino champion barely etched out a win.
In contrast, Mayweather Jr easily beat Marquez in their 2009 fight. Watch the video highlights Mayweather’s conquest of Marquez below.

Pacquiao: I Want to Give Him a Rematch

Pacquiao vs Marquez
The third fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez was supposed to settle everything. For Pacquiao, a win was to be a validation of his two previous controversial victories. Marquez, on the other hand, hoped a victory in the third bout would finally vindicate his bold claim that he beat the Filipino fighter twice.
But after a grueling 12 rounds, the score remains unsettled. Instead of providing answers, it raised more questions.
Even the judges were not unanimous with Judges Glenn Trowbridge and Dave Moretti scoring it 116-112  and 115-113 for Manny Pacquiao. Meanwhile, Robert Hoyle thought the fight ended in a draw at 114-114.
“They robbed me again,” said Marquez. “It’s hard when you’re fighting your rival and three judges, too… I’m frustrated. I’m really, really frustrated.”

Pacquiao saw it differently. “It was clear I won the fight,” Pacquiao said amidst a booing crowd of mostly disappointed Mexican fans.
Both trainers echoed their wards statements.
Marquez’s trainer Nacho Beristain said,  “This was robbery at the utmost.”
“This was the closest they ever fought and I thought it would end in a draw,” Roach said. “But Manny won the last two rounds and I wasn’t surprised by the judges’ decision.”
Meanwhile, Top Rank’s Bob Arum said he was going to set up a fourth fight between the two boxers. “If the fighters are willing, the promoters will promote it,” Arum said.
But a fourth fight remains unclear as rumors of Marquez retiring emerged immediately after the fight. Arum is unconvinced Marquez will retire. Roach also thinks otherwise.
When asked if he was willing to figh Marquez for the fourth time, Pacquiao responded, “I want to give him a rematch.”
